We stayed in water/electric site #50. It is a half circle pull-out site with the hookups on the wrong side and located in the center of the half circle. It was a slight challenge to situate our door beyond the utility posts and a wash that dropped away from the front of the site. Water line had to be routed under the RV. If we had slides on both sides of our rig it would have been even more challenging due to the utilities position.
One thing we didn't realize when booking our site was the best views here are facing the Superstition Mountains. We chose a perimeter site which turned out to face away from those mountains, but gave us terrific privacy and still a great view, plus a large area to walk Rosie. We noticed some sites faced the road, including the sitting area, due to a wash dropping away behind their site. Those sites had no privacy at all. When making reservations you'll want to carefully select your site by looking at a satellite map and determining where the picnic table is placed.
Verizon signal is poor. We had to take phone calls outside to optimize the connection. Our internet signal was usable but quite slow at times, even with the Wilson Sleek 4GV booster.
Beautiful, popular, but quiet state park. We did hear a little noise of gunshots and train whistles at the fake gold town half mile away, but very peaceful at night. We loved having tons of trails right at the park and within a few miles.
Site #50. Good separation from our neighbor.
Site #50 with sunset glow on the Superstitions.
Those yellow posts protect the utilities.
Note the MH across the road behind us...site #53 has good privacy and an awesome view!
Our other neighbor has a sitting area right next to the road and the wash drops away behind the site.
Lots of birds here!
Thanks for the review. We have never been, but hope to go soon, beautiful!ReplyDelete
This was a great state park if you can get a good site. Some sites were way too public for my liking.Delete
We've hiked in that area but never stayed. We're kind of partial to McDowell Mt. Maybe next year.ReplyDelete
We like McDowell too but wanted to try somewhere new and I'm glad we did. Variety is the spice of life!Delete
Looking forward to our two week visit starting next Sunday. Thanks for the info!ReplyDelete
Glad you have your space. Good luck to you and your endeavours.ReplyDelete
Thank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.
I love that you identify the good sites. It's pretty there. We're going to have to go up one of these days.ReplyDelete
The whole string of sites opposite us looked quite nice with privacy and views of the Superstitions. 49, 51, 53, 55...Delete
Thanks for these great campground reviews. So much more informative than the books and other sources.ReplyDelete
